Our Commitment to Fair Reviews
LocalVet maintains clear guidelines to ensure reviews are honest, helpful, and respectful. Every review is subject to these rules, and violations may result in removal.
What We Expect From Reviewers
All reviews on LocalVet should be:
- Genuine — based on a real experience at the clinic. Do not review a clinic you have never visited.
- Your own — written by you personally, not on behalf of someone else or generated by software.
- Relevant — focused on the veterinary services and experience at the clinic.
- Respectful — constructive criticism is welcome, but personal attacks and abusive language are not.
What Is Not Allowed
The following types of content will be removed if reported or detected:
- Fake reviews — reviews from people who did not visit the clinic, including paid or incentivised reviews.
- Spam — promotional content, links to external websites, or irrelevant material.
- Hate speech — discriminatory language targeting any individual or group.
- Personal information — posting private details about staff members, other clients, or animals without consent.
- Conflicts of interest — reviews written by the clinic's own staff, owners, or competitors.
- Threats or harassment — any language that threatens, intimidates, or harasses.
- Medical claims — reviews should not provide medical advice or claim a vet caused harm without factual basis.
How to Report a Review
- Navigate to the review you want to report.
- Click the flag icon or "Report" link beneath the review.
- Select a reason from the dropdown (e.g. "Fake review", "Abusive language", "Spam").
- Add any additional context that would help our moderation team.
- Submit your report.
Our moderation team reviews reports within 2-3 business days. You will receive an email notification with the outcome. If a review is found to violate our guidelines, it will be removed and the reviewer may receive a warning or account suspension.
Appeals
If your review was removed and you believe it was done in error, you can submit an appeal through the help centre. Include the original review text and an explanation of why you believe it complies with our guidelines.
