Choosing the Right Account Type
LocalVet offers two account types tailored to different needs. Here is a clear breakdown of what each includes so you can choose the right one when you sign up.
Pet Owner Account
This is the best choice if you are looking for veterinary care for your animals. A Pet Owner account gives you:
- Full search access — browse every veterinary listing in our directory with no restrictions.
- Save favourites — bookmark clinics you like so you can find them quickly later.
- Write reviews — share your experience to help other pet owners make informed decisions.
- Manage your profile — update your name, email, location, and notification preferences.
- Receive recommendations — get personalised suggestions based on your location and saved preferences.
Business Owner Account
This account type is designed for veterinary professionals who want to manage their presence on LocalVet. It includes everything in the Pet Owner account, plus:
- Claim your listing — verify ownership of your veterinary practice and take control of the information displayed.
- Edit business details — update your address, phone number, opening hours, services, and photos.
- Respond to reviews — publicly reply to client feedback to show you value their input.
- View analytics — see how many people view your listing, click for directions, or call your clinic (Pro plan).
- Upgrade to Pro — access premium features like featured placement, priority support, and enhanced analytics.
Can I Switch Later?
Yes. You can change your account type at any time from your account settings. If you start as a Pet Owner and later open a veterinary practice, simply upgrade to a Business Owner account to unlock listing management features. No data is lost when you switch.
Do I Need an Account to Search?
No. You can search the directory and view listings without an account. However, you will need to sign in to save favourites, write reviews, or manage a business listing.
